Piano Lessons for Children
This page is for Moms and Dads to share with their young ones.
Anyone can play the piano! That means you, too! And it's fun for the whole family. Surprisingly, learning to play the piano will give you everything you need to learn almost every other instrument such as flute, drums, horns, clarinet, violin and more! Pretty cool, isn't it?
So what happens at piano lessons? Well, it's simple. First you come to the studio so we can meet each other. We introduce ourselves and then we start looking at the piano and how it works. All of that takes about 5-10 minutes.....no kidding. This is called an introductory lesson.
After that, we go to the piano and learn how to hold our hands and sit on the bench properly. I even have a special stool for your feet so you can balance just right. Then we begin with your first book! The book is filled with lots of fun pictures...there's even a picture of a piano to help you find the right place to put your hands!
You get to read and play piano at the first lesson!
Here's a picture of 11 year old Robert Chen playing piano just like you can!
At each lesson you will learn something new that you can practice before you go home. You will have a Lesson Book that you can color in and decorate with stickers you can earn by practicing properly and asking questions. Sometimes I will give you challenges and we'll also play memory games to learn the notes and strengthen our memory. The best part are the duets. Duet comes from the Italian word for "two" which means two people play music together! You will have lots of fun playing duets from your books.
