May 2, 2010 - Spring Piano Recital
Yungling Piano Studio will have its Spring Piano Recital on Sunday, May 2 at 3pm. Once again we will be performing at the gorgeous Clover's Fine Art Gallery and Cafe on Atlantic Avenue in Brooklyn.
Clover's Fine Art Gallery and Cafe is an elegant Fine Art Gallery hosting beautiful art exhibitions by world renowned artists. And Clover just happens to have a beautiful Petrof Grand Piano!
Located at 338 Atlantic Avenue in Brooklyn, Clover's has a quaint cafe offering a pleasant array of coffees, hot chocolate, alcoholic beverages and bakery items.
September 29, 2009 - Introducing Frenchie! (Updated 3-16-10)
I'm very sad to report that Frenchie was hit by a car and is no longer with us. We are taking solace from all the loving support of our friends and family....and the thoughts that Frenchie is happily chasing birds in the sky! Thank you to everyone who helped us through this sad and difficult time.

I just got Frenchie during the labor day vacation. She is a beautiful 5 month old Papillon puppy. She's funny, bouncy, super energetic and loves to do tricks for her treats!
Papillon is the French word for "butterfly". And that's because her ears stick up and out and make her look like a big butterfly. My piano student Jasper said, "Frenchie's ears are so big, she can even hear your thoughts." Way to go Jasper. I think you're right!
Frenchie is getting used to life in Brooklyn. She loves the piano studio because the carpet is a nice soft place for her to stretch out and enjoy some music. I think her favorite music is Papillons by Robert Schumann. Hmmmm, I wonder why she likes those songs so much?
September 18, 2009 - Recording in the Studio
Students will now enjoy a more interactive lesson that expands the traditional piano lesson to include current and fun technologies.
Students can now have "recording" experience at piano lessons. The idea is to give students instant feedback so they can critically listen to their playing. Not only does this aid in ear training, but it also strengthens their understanding of key musical elements such as phrasing and dynamics.
While recording piano lessons is not new, I am happy to upgrade the experience by using a 20 inch iMac with the 2009 version of Garageband as well as a special microphone for recording acoustic piano.
These modern technologies give a better sound reproduction and can also be turned into CD's for personal use. (What a great gift idea for holidays and birthdays!)
August 1, 2009 - Long Distance Lessons with Skype
Yungling Piano Studio has completed successful testing of distance learning, "Piano Lessons in Your Home - WorldWide." Using a laptop and Skype, my mother had a 2 hour piano lesson. She at her Yamaha Grand in Peoria, Arizona, and I at my Estonia Grand in my studio in Brooklyn, New York. Together we discussed the music she is learning, and explored theory, chords and arpeggios. I watched her hands and helped her with practice strategies for the week to come. It was just like a studio lesson.
